How I help

What it’s like to have the books handled.

Who I work with, what changes, how it works, and answers to the questions people ask most.

Sound familiar?

You have better things to do than the books

  • “I do the books at night, after the real work is finished.”
  • “Every spring it’s a scramble for receipts, then a tax bill I didn’t see coming.”
  • “Sales look good, but I honestly can’t tell if we’re making money.”
  • “When my board, my lender, or my spouse asks a question, I don’t have a confident answer.”
  • “QuickBooks is a mess, and I don’t know where to start fixing it.”
  • “Bills, renewals, and statements keep slipping through the cracks.”

None of this means you’re careless. It means you’re busy doing the work only you can do. Hand off the books and you get your time and your peace of mind back. And the longer it waits, the bigger the catch-up gets.

What changes

Life with the books handled

Bookkeeping is the means. These are the reasons people actually hire me.

I

Your time back

No more evenings with receipts, statements, and bills. You spend minutes a month on your finances instead of hours, and your team stays focused on the work that matters.

II

No more surprises

Every account reconciled and ready if the IRS, a lender, your board, or your CPA ever asks. Tax time becomes a simple hand-off.

III

Answers you can act on

Plain-English reports that show what’s working, where your money goes, and where you can keep more of what you earn.

IV

The whole picture, handled discreetly

Multiple properties, accounts, entities, or household staff? One trusted person keeps it all organized, pays the bills on time, and works with your CPA, attorney, and financial advisor.

Why I do this

Strong local businesses make strong communities

Small businesses, and the nonprofits and churches that serve our community, are the foundation of the local economy. I want to see them succeed.

In more than 15 years of auditing businesses and nonprofits, I kept meeting leaders so busy with their business or their mission that the books never got their attention. With someone keeping the books clean and offering steady guidance, they could get loans faster, make decisions sooner, and be ready to say yes when a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity comes along. That’s what I do for my clients.

How I can help

Start with the problem you want solved

Not sure which fits? Tell me what’s going on and I’ll point you in the right direction.

Start here

Tell me where you are, and where you want to be

Our first conversation is about you: how things got to this point, what’s frustrating you, and what you’d like the next year to look like. Then I’ll tell you honestly whether I can help, what it would take, and what it would cost.

What to expect

From first call to peace of mind

A simple process, and you know the price before any work begins.

Start with the intake form
01Tell me what’s going on

Call, text, or send the short intake form. We’ll talk through how things got here and where you want them to be.

02I look at where things stand

I review your accounts, how current the books are, and what you need from them, so the plan fits your real situation.

03You get a clear plan and a fixed price

We go over it together, so you know exactly what’s included and what it costs before any work begins. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll tell you.

04You get your time back

I do the work in the background each month. Your reports arrive on a day we agreed on if you want them, or whenever you ask. You can stop thinking about the books.

The difference

Don’t settle for a typical bookkeeper

Plenty of people can enter transactions. You deserve books you can make decisions with, kept by someone who knows what to look for.

  • You always reach me

Questions go straight to the person who reconciled your accounts, so you get real answers, fast.

  • Mistakes get caught early

Fifteen years of audit work and a fraud examiner’s eye mean problems are found before they reach your tax return.

  • Your QuickBooks is built right

A Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor sets up and maintains your file, so it stays easy to keep current.

  • You know the price up front

A fixed monthly or project fee, agreed before work starts. No surprise hourly bills.

  • You understand your numbers

Your reports explained in plain language, along with what they mean for your next decision.

  • I work directly with your CPA

No more playing middleman. Your CPA gets clean year-end books from me, and their questions come straight to me. That saves you time and hassle, and puts their time (and your money) toward tax planning instead of cleanup.

Questions

Good questions to ask a bookkeeper

Do I need to know which service I need?

No. Tell me what’s going on and I’ll tell you what fits, including whether it’s something I do.

My books are a mess, and honestly a little embarrassing. Can you still help?

Yes, and there’s no judgment. Most people reach out once things have gotten away from them, and that’s exactly what cleanup and catch-up is for. Projects start at $1,000 and are quoted up front after I see how far behind things are. From there, we can keep them current every month.

How much of my time will this take?

As little as you want. When we start, I’ll help you set things up so I get your bank and card statements and any other records I need each month. From there, I do the work in the background while you focus on your business.

You’ll hear from me when something needs your attention. Otherwise, no news is good news. If you want regular reports, they arrive on a day we agree on at the start. Otherwise, they’re available whenever you ask, and they can always go straight to your CPA or anyone else who needs them.

Who do you work with?

Businesses, nonprofits, churches, and other organizations, plus individuals and families. Personal bookkeeping keeps your household accounts reconciled, spending organized, and records ready for tax time. For high-net-worth households, private client bookkeeping adds bill-pay management, multiple properties and entities, and consolidated monthly reporting. See personal bookkeeping.

What does advisory include?

Practical planning for business owners, built on your books: tax planning and quarterly estimates with your CPA, owner pay, retirement plan options, health insurance and benefits, deductions, and cash flow. It’s available to current bookkeeping clients as needed, or on its own, and quoted separately for the work you need. Insurance and investment decisions stay with licensed professionals. See advisory services.

How is the monthly price set?

By the work your books require: transaction volume, number of accounts, the condition of the books, and how much ongoing support you want. Once the scope is clear, you get a fixed monthly fee. Most books fall into one of three tiers, $300, $450, or $650 and up a month, and the same pricing applies to business, nonprofit, and personal books. See which tier fits.

Do you prepare taxes?

No. Tax returns stay with your CPA or tax preparer. I provide clean year-end books and reports and answer their bookkeeping questions, and that coordination is included with ongoing bookkeeping. Through advisory, I can also help you plan ahead for taxes during the year, alongside your CPA.

Do you run payroll?

Usually not. Payroll processing normally stays with your payroll provider, and I reconcile payroll reports, entries, and related accounts so payroll shows up correctly in your books.

In some cases, I can run payroll for you through Gusto or QuickBooks Payroll. We’ll talk through what you need, and payroll is quoted separately from your monthly bookkeeping.

What software do you use?

Mostly QuickBooks Online. I can set up a new file, reorganize an existing one, or train you and your staff to use it with confidence. If you’re on other software, including QuickBooks Desktop, I can handle the move to QuickBooks Online.

If your finances are simple, say one or two accounts and a handful of transactions a month, QuickBooks may be more than you need. In that case, I’ll set up simple spreadsheets in Excel or Google Sheets for monthly tracking, and we can move to QuickBooks Online as things grow.

Is my financial information secure?

Yes. Your books and files are kept secure, whether they’re with me or in QuickBooks Online.

Are you a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor?

Yes. I’m a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, certified by Intuit in QuickBooks Level 1 and Level 2, QuickBooks Online Payroll, and Intuit Enterprise Suite. See my certifications.
